I tried some essential oils in the aroma tray it works marginally at best so dont buy this unit if you are primarily in need of an aroma diffuser

I have also used it with regular tap water and compared to the other humidifiers there was almost no white residue honeywell felt like i was pummeled in a snow globe

If the humidity content in a room gets too high it can cause issues so watch out for that
