Be sure to read apple support for adding an external drive docking station to spotlight and for including external drive docking station in time machine

My understanding is that this adapter is a passive device meaning that it has no storage capacity no sleep mode no speed restrictions or any active circuitry so all of the standard amazon feature ratings are moot

The adapter is hard to remove you need a screwdriver to pry it out but that is the entire point of this device
