Pros

There was damage visible at the terminal location on the carton the battery was originally packed in but there was no visible damage to the outer shipping carton. Check the acid level every 4 to 5 months and top off with distilled water.

It has an average life span, or mine did anyway. First bought the watchdog system days before a hurricane about 5 years ago. First one lasted 8 years, this battery is on year 9 and is still good.

Cons

The pouring thing is horrible and acid got everywhere. How a 18 month old battery that is inside a plastic cover in an inside location in which the temp varies from 65 to 75 degrees (year round) fails is beyond me.

While the pump works great, the backup battery is terrible. Extremely fickle in my experience. They do a very poor job of addressing this issue in their documentation.

Last october i began receiving alarmstextsemails saying the the battery terminals are corroded or the battery should be replaced

After pressing the test button on the control unit the alarm would clear all was ok for a week or so but then another alarm would occur

Over a period of time the alarms became more frequent once or twiceweek

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

About 6 months later the alarms were frequent so i unboxed the new battery added acid and connected it to my system

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Within a week the same alarm happened on the new installation

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I took a close look to be sure everything was connected right tight and found everything to be ok with one very important exception there was a ragged 112 hole in the top of the battery under the positive terminal

Additionally the terminal post was bent down the bottom of the terminal was slightly below the battery surface
