For whatever reason ruger evidently employs a gorilla to install the flash hider on their threaded 1022 barrels

I tried to remove it with nylon jaws and heating it up with a torch

First attempt failed but then i moved the barrel to the spot that i figured the jaws would have the best contactabout 13 of the distance from the muzzle to the receiver

Put a 34 wrench on the flats and whacked the end of it with the hammer

Oh btwi tried the above with a piece of leather around the barrel to protect it first

Out of desperation i then did the above with barrel naked and it worked
