Ball is solid blue and not as depicted. Not translucent at all. Not a great kendama, ball chips easily and the string is stiff.

The kendama works fine the string is shorter than i prefer but otherwise is fine

If you are brand new to kendama you should absolutely buy one that has a sticky or rubber coating
It says translucent because the paint is trnslucent and you can see the wood grain through the paint
I didnt know much about kendama and was afraid it was like cheating to buy one that had a sticky or rubber coating
Competitiveness
Son loves it and so far paint has not chipped off like other kendama purchases
My teenager son has become adept with a kendama and enjoys colleting them and teaching his friends
A couple of months and multiple kendamas later and i never use this one

And with this one the chipping and denting happens very quickly

They can get to small i think and this is a good size in my opinion
