Pros & Cons

Pros

Not one rattle. The expandable side pockets are great, no need for extra saddle bags for a day trip.

It's worth the hassle to do that because it looks awesome. Price bias says that it's too cheap, but seriously, you'll probably never find a reason why it's not good enough, unless you're biking around the world or have special needs. The bike has 26 w...  Read More

Bought two of these and installed on a med. Salsa vaya which has disc brakes. That is how i got my wife's installed. Easy to install on a trek fx bike, did not have to bend any rods.

This rack is not a cheesy product. This is a great quality rack and it's an exceptional value.

Cons

This rack eats up the free space that would be needed for fender clearance. The bolts are the correct diameter but are not long enough for use with fenders. Their own fender kits (also by axiom) are also poorly designed and incomplete and give no heed...  Read More

The quality of the rack was excellent and the matte black finish looks great

Nice quality works and looks great on my giant escape 2

Competitiveness

It is lighter than some seatpost mounted racks

I did need one extra part for the installation given that my bike a genesis 29 lacks the necessary predrilled holes in the frame

I tried the topeak explorer and the bags wouldnt move back far enough to prevent heel strike

In fact axioms website claims itll hold 150lbs

For shorter bicycles this may not fit in your bikes eyelets due to the aluminum attachment rods

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It was slightly annoying because it is an additional 10 that i did not anticipate spending

As other reviewers have mentioned as an alternative to purchasing a seat collar you could instead shorten the rods

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

But i opted for the seat collar because i didnt know if shortening the rods would affect the integrity of the rack in any way

When my 2 banjo brothers shopping panniers are fully filled with the weekly provisions including 7 bottles of water 14 liters and a case of beer the rack has to be supporting at least 50lbs but it does so easily

Unless youre genuinely planning a trek across the pyrenees i really cant see how youd ever need a steel rack costing hundreds of dollars when this super light aluminum one can carry more than youre ever likely to carry and is ridiculously cheap at under 30 at time of writing

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Ive tried a lot of racks and the problem is that the rack is so close to the seat that if i hang a big bag like a grocery pannier on it i strike it with my heel and sometimes knock the bag off the rack
