Pros & Cons

Pros

Good hood and a good purchase. Only issue is that the cable location is non standard so had to bore a hole to get the plug up into the cabinet above.

The fan is quiet on low and loud on high as i would expect. If you want it super quiet, run the piping up to the attic, and put the motors up there. It's a bit louder than expected on high, but the resulting suction is good.

Installing them was straightforward; remove the vent filters, reach in above the light and push it down. Buy a good bit extender too, to reach mounting holes. Hardwiring and longer screws were required. This made for a very secure mounting.

Led task lighting is excellent and i like the dimmer feature. The lighting on the hood is really nice, much better than the typical appliance bulb that my other hoods have had.

The lights are great. I hope the lights are replaceable. Setting light brightness takes a bit of self-training, but anyone can master it. The dimming feature is a real plus.

Cons

Awoco customer service was disinterested in helping. After conducting an assessment, it is my professional opinion that the led lights accompanying this product have exhibited a short lifespan of less than 24 months.

Quality

Overall i am happy with this product

00 range vents and the quality on this unit is on par with the expensive ones

This was made more difficult because this is a very heavy product

Had an issue with the led lights staying on all the time

Packaging/appearance

Very good packaging and everything checked out

Dont know how we could have missed it buried in the packaging

Competitiveness

Anyway this is a good solid wellmade hood that does move a lot of air

After months of researching hoods to replace our very old broan hood i happened on a magazine review recommending this awoco hood

Luckily i saw another review who mentioned getting warm 4000k leds from the manufacturer

Related to the install and not the manufacturer

But the damper is so thin and cheap its rattling was so obnoxious i had to take the fan down and cut it out

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The damper is the thinnest sheet metal you can get and was so light it was really noisy

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

A heavier metal or a light spring would be helpful and as powerful as the fan is would not impact performance much

I’ve never installed an oven hood before it’s not easy

This was made more difficult because this is a very heavy product

What i learned 1 need access to the duct so you can line it up 2 screw the duct into the hood before attaching it to the rest of the duct 3 cut 2 pieces of wood to the height of the hood 1 inch to hold it up while installing this was the most important thing i learned 4 cut an opening for the electric cable so the hood can lay flush

I dont think it is any louder than the rood it replaced but does a much much better job moving air
