I would not use this valve with pots filled with compost or soil unless there is around 50 perlite or clay in the pot and with clay in the bottom of the pot because soil and compost are easier to water log than coco coir
The media in my plant pots is coco coir not soil or compost so the plants might not suffer from the over watering
