Nice metal construction on the mic and electronics unfortunately the base which connects to the flash shoe is plastic and doesnt appear quite as well made as the core mic part

Unlike the sgc598 the back of the 698 microphone and housing does not stick out over the back of the camera which could make it difficult if i want to use the cameras optical viewfinder
