The top can go in the top rack of a dishwasher if you have one with a deep top rack

Dont put the base in the dishwasher if your water is properly hot the brass bushing expands in heat more than the plastic does and it will crack away the plastic its set into

The larger holes of the oriole feeder do let a bit of debris through bits of tree bark for instance through and i even found a wasp drowned in mine the other day the hummingbirds didnt seem to mind
