I would recommend placing the top shelf as i did the opposite and had to undo construction

It had a few chips on the sides of the top desk part but it does not really look like it is not intentional

It came with a cute little basket that could not really hold small items like paper clips

The painted finish has some obvious spot flaws on the desk i received and a close inspection of the edges and corners reveals a sloppy uneven application

Consthe shelves were a little annoying to get the screws lined upi wish that the shelves were just a few inches wider although this was in the description so was not the fault of this desk or ad as i wouldve liked to be able to forego the top shelf and instead put my computer on the bottom shelf
