Well the 501 bios application error is talking about this laptops built in bios based os features having issues probably corruption

I should note that these old laptops benefit highly from bios updates so get on it before complaining that your battery is the issue

It was cheap enough that i decided to replace the battery rather than buy a new computer right now even though mine is very old
