It you were using the side for a larger knife it would cover both staggered magnets anyway

The surfaces the knives rest on are rougher think 100grit sanding not 300grit like the outer surfaces and do not appear to be finished

Personally i never liked the fact that you didnt know what might be living in the slots of traditional blacks and there was no way to clean them

That is the magnetic strips that hold knives are just that narrow strips that hold one knife each along the length of the knife not across the boards that make up the holder

The block does not hold my meat fork at allnot enough metal against the wood for it to grip

I was given a 10 inch knife as a gift and really never use it because it isnt as accessible and stuck in the drawer
