I too couldnt open this box at first but i had the larger box made by these folks and knew they think their wood boxes thru pretty well so i kept looking for what i was doing wrong

Still took me a minute to figure out what to do at the round end of the lid press down and forward to slide the box open

The ball bearing is under the lid at the round end you can it in the picture

The lid movement was a little tough initially but a little candle wax on the sides of the lid took care of the problem
