I understand if your budget limits you to a gen 2 unit and to be fair i may have gotten one whose image tube is slightly out of spec but i really think youd be happier with the gen 3
While this may be as others have said a great deal better than gen 1 technology when compared sidebyside with a gen 3 atn pvs73 night vision goggle which is standard us army issue i would go ahead and pop for the extra money for the gen 3
