This was a gift for my husband he was so pleased
My sense is that the ceramic is not as fine a a steel nevertheless i am happy with the result
Then i did an additional 5 swipes per with the new ceramic honer and the test was noticeably improved

95 twenty years ago so the price hasnt gone up that much

Only issue is the way its glued into the handle

I have a benchmade with a d2 steel blade that i use on the farm
But it works as well as the more expensive ceramics and its worth the extra care for the lower price
Do this on both sides of knive blade

It is hefty so it will not fit in many knive blocks so expect it to keep it in your dinnerware drawer but expect that its too big to fit in with your regular dinner utensils its at least 16 long and handle is over 1 diameter

Other reviews have commented that their rod came with a small defect on the very end mine did not but in any case it is not anything that would affect its use so dont infer that its defective in any way

It does a good job of honing knives will sharpen to an extent there is some material on the stone after use but wouldn’t use if i had to grind away material due to a nick in the blade that’s not what i got it for anyway

It cleans easily just wish it was a little smaller even if it had just a shorter handle since it won’t fit in my kitchen drawers

Good product but handel came unattached from unit can be glued back on high epoxy glue

Because its ceramic you have to protect it and its big and clunky and you cant just throw it on the floorboard or hang it from a belt loop
