The remote is somewhat useful for controlling the volume from a distance and you can forward to the next track on a bluetooth connected device however only the numbers apply to the microsd tf card slot option and switching through tracks

The only way to get an approximate reading of battery life is to connect this speaker via bluetooth i had no issues pairing this soundbard to an android or ios device bluetooth device
