Out of all my recent aquarium purchases, i think this one was the most surprising on how well it went and how it suited my purposes. If you follow the instructions its easy to start the siphon. Works like a charm once used correctly.

I have another that siphons much slower which allows me to move along the bottom of the tank and suck up bits at a slow pace

If the flow is too strong and you start sucking gravel through just suck up a bit watch for when gravel starts lifting and kink the cord
