Usually with a regular snorkel you have to constantly do powerfull exhales to get water out and you are left sputtering the whole time you are trying to calmly breath up for a deep dive

If a wave breaks over the snorkel the upper valve drains most of the water out before it gets to your mouth

I liked the look and feel of this snorkel but never used it because the seller shipped it in a unpadded envelope and i thought it might have a small leak so i sent it back

The cheap ones shut close when the wave hits you to try breath and you cannot so you panic
