It comes with a basic controller, but i have an ecobee 4 thermostat. It keeps the house at a consistent 43-45% humidity 24/7. Holding 20% rh @ 5f, 30%@25f and 40% @ 35f easily.

I have my 800 cranked up and never had a problem. The ecobee 4 and this unit is really the best combo ever. Saves the grief and hassle of stand-alone units.
Replacement tank is a good deal lower on amazon than from the manufacturer or plumbing supply house.
It's amazingly fast. It's convenient for sure. But here's the deal. It’s worth the better sleep, but surprisingly expensive. Amazon does a great job in most cases.
Cons
Upon installing needed about 200. All pin-out information is absent from the supplied installation and owner's manuals.
Aprilaire has one of the sketchiest product replacement and servicing warranty arrangements i've ever run into. None of these companies that make this kind of product want to warranty a dyi installation.
The water in my town is too pure. The engineering came again, call the tech support, i need a new canister? The hardness needs to be regulated but their must be some hardness to produce steam.

Aprilaire's warranty procedure basically makes it impossible to get anything fixed. The only way to make it go is to restart the device. After one week, the warning light blinks again. The rh level in the home has been low.

Weve had our aprilaire 800 since the fall of 2019
This specific aprilaire unit needs 2 wiresthe pins for one wire option are physically missing on this model
Did not like the included aprilaire humidity controller and made no sense to have more than one hvac control unit
