The manufacturer thoughtfully included both because it gives you the choice of using a basic remote making it not necessary to use one of the two ports or the remote with the mouse which requires putting its wireless dongle into one of them leaving you with only one port left

At a minimum you will want to use that option but using even a mouse to select numbers and text to set up the device or later search for things is a royal pain

I have a big empty wall at the foot of my bed and im only there at night so i thought it would be perfect to have a 100 inch video display to see instead of paying a thousand dollars for an actual tv that would be smaller
