Pros
The permeate pump overcomes the shortcomings of my water pressure issues. The pump is hydro powered by the tank and incoming water pressure, no electricity needed! Unexpected positive side effect is that the permeate pump is now much quieter.
The taste is unbeatable. The cleanliness is excellent.
Very impressive results and throughput. The rate it fills is the best feature. I love how fast the stream is.
The sum of the condensation and the daily 45 gallons of ro output serve our household needs. Was paying 35 cents a gallon and having to go down the water shop to fill * every week. Large reserve tank delivers plenty of water.
Ro system works great. I have a well with only 44 psi, and thankfully purchased the permeate pump which adds water pressure to the system.
Cons
The tap drill hole is there, but there are no threads to thread the fitting into. The tds # is good when the tank is first filled, but over the course of a few days the ppm increases to over 100! After 1 month use the water is 27-30 ppm.

I was able to jury rig solutions for both of these problems but overall very difficult installation for this diyer
Price
The pump on this model is worth every penny
I have also had a 4000 kenetico k5 system that worked great to supply the fridge and a sink from the basement
Had to spend an additional 35 to get the high flow filter instead of this just coming with it
I needed to buy some additional tubing since i installed the unit in the basement but that cost me all of 6 bucks

I contacted the company by email and got very prompt very informative replies
This filter system came quickly and was easy to install
The unit arrived within a few days and installation took less then an hour to complete
It took us about less than halfday to install including a few trips to home depot due to a 10 yrold broken copper pipe
Packaging/appearance
The apec unit was very well boxed and delivered without any damage
Everything was in the box needed to hook up
Competitiveness
Filters are easy to change and inexpensive compared to brands like culligan
So i know this one is better than others certainly better than the costco unit it replaced
We had a different system in our old house that didnt make that noise but it cost 5 times more than this and the result is the same
On price points apec has the competition beat

I have a rural residence with well water

After installing the apec i sent off water samples for testing one from the kitchen faucet and another from the apec system
