If you put the small external charger in the main charging spot and plug your phone cable into the side slot it will charge both your phone and the external charger

The only reason to put the the external charger on the side is if you dont want to use up the extra battery because it will automatically start charging when your phone loses charge

Only con would be that theres no bezel to protect the front but i have a screen shield on the front so its kinda perfect since it doesnt touch it or make it peel
