The book covers a lot of basic psychology reasonably well but it wraps it in a gimmick about being negative. The journalistic style is so off putting that it hurts the message he is trying to convey.

Such ideologies include survivor bias attributing success to factors that are largely irrelevant while ignoring stories of failure by those sharing those same attributes the idea of the self as an entity completely separate and independent of its environment which is shown as impossible and wellbeing as the obliteration of uncertainty often by extreme and irrational measures
