Pros
This is a great book and hopefully they will keep it up to date. It captures the mind of the reader that you wouldn't want to leave it behind. Buy the book and accept that it can't teach everything, does a decent job of most things.
Android 4 app development is a must. Eclipse is used as the primary ide in this book. The only part of my learning experience that has been disappointing is the time required to launch a virtual device.

Cons
I believe the book does a bad job in the introductory chapters explaining what is in the xml files. Even the first app for the book fails to run on studio.
It's a major chore reading their book and then trying to figure out how to do the same thing via android studio. It doesn't match the current eclipse ide behavior well at all. Save your money and shop around.
