Pros & Cons
Pros
Good for infusing toasted oak character to a wine or spirit. Toasted marshmallow notes with red fruit flavors underneath. Added just the right smoky oak flavor to my barrel-aged cocktails.
These oak spirals add a nice oak flavor to any bourbon. Transformed a cheap bottle of bourbon into a higher end one. Let one spiral sit in about 8 ounces of bourbon for a week before adding both to a stout.
Oak staves and a few months extra in the cask. Get it here at amazon. Have bought 3 and will continue to buy more. Very pleased with them.
Cons
These spirals are will work only if you're working with 5-6 gal carboys. Didn't fit in a 750ml johnnie walker black or a 1.
