If you have to pieces of wood stacked on top of each other the piece on the top is your guidetemplate and the piece on the bottom is what will be cut

It is easier to follow a template at the top of the wood being cut than it isto use those bits with the bearing at the tip and having to reverse the template

Had to peel a thin rubber like material off of the bit

I started the mortise using the template then because the oak was thick i removed the template and ran the bearing against the previously cut section

Note that you dont needwant a long cutting length for this process as you need to make multiple shallow cuts
