Firstly as others have noted these shoes are remarkably lightweight

In the past i have disliked trainers for this purpose as i have found them too soft and squiggie and have gone for boots instead

However knowing now that the throughhikers in the usa go for trailrunning shoes and given that an old pair of trailrunning shoes i found in my cupboard seem to work well for walking i thought i would give them a try
