Green means it has power and red means the element is energized. The metal is chromed, the wires are sturdy, and it fits exactly into the existing 5/16 hole of my multi-tool. Just drilled a 1/4' hole adjacent the switch and popped this baby in.

If the product was washed with a lot of light especially sunlight it might be hard to tell if it was on

Otherwise you can only tell if there is water flow through the unit and then the temp led lights up
