Makes it cumbersome when bringing the bino up to the face having to push the flaps out of the way.
Competitiveness
I’ll buy another one for my 10x42 virtex diamondback.
I have used it with 8x30 up to 25x100 binos.
I had a competitors product and it worked well but could not be used while wearing sunglass or any eyeglasses.
I put them on nikon prostaff 7s.

The old one doesn’t have the clip that closes over the eye pieces.

They block out 100% of light that would usually hit you in the corner of your eyes.

Didn't think it would be a big deal until i saw a bird and couldn't get the eye pieces up to my eyes.

I spend hours and hours looking through field glasses and these cut the glare, light pollution and distraction from my peripheral vision.
