Reading enjoyment leads to a lifetime of learning. Another bonus is that you can combine spelling, writing and reading.
Cons
The kindle version is poorly edited--it's missing question marks and periods at the end of sentences. Pretty frustrating. It's also difficult to use the book for 2 kids on the kindle. One has to print gif images if you want to do that.
