Some of their kindergarten mates were already reading, so obviously something was not working at school for them.

I tried a couple of books that teach with games, but they just did not work.

I tried alpha phonics, and at the beginning it seem that it was destined to fail also.

It's a great book and a great method, but you still have to work at it.

I motivated my oldest by telling her that if she could finish the lesson, i would give her a coloring sheet based on it (i printed off a black and white picture illustrating a word or sentence that had been in the lesson).

Panic mode sets in and i don't know how to read auto-response without even trying, as text is scary in a book.
