Pros
Each 3 db is a doubling in signal strength. Improves directional signal gain. Luckily this antenna offers both frequencies, so you're future proof.
This alfa network aerial works great long distance. It works great on long distance wifi - or in older houses. The maximum speed of a g network is only 54 mbps, but the n networks are either 150 or 300 mbps.
Cons
Do not buy. in hindsight do not buy. Checked connections - this antenna has a female connector (box says male), and router has female connector. No improvement in power, range or speed over the small aerial supplied with my travel router.

Packaging/appearance
I noticed when i was swatching channels i was only getting 1 bar for a signal which is really bad i always had to connect back to the 2ghz
Competitiveness
I am using these on a tplink wa901nd wireless access point to extend its range
I built my own pc and got my self a pci tplink wifi card
4ghz band and i got little or no improvement with 5ghz although it did make it directional of course
I wanted a 5ghz signal through 3 walls and across 7 meters into an adjacent room past a staircase

Signal strength still seemed low as reported by android devices icon in status bar but download speed drastically improved regardless of that

I have a wifi extender in an out building about 30 meters from the house but theres a thick brick wall behind the main access point so the signal was too week to really work properly struggled to connect and kept dropping out when it did

They are described as directional but my tests implied that you wont necessarily be reducing the signal in any direction
