It was years later that akg finally got smart and quit hardwiring the cord into the headset which was a huge and welcome design change even though it was quite sometime after i got out of the club business

I still have the first pair that i bought in 1976 and it still delivers the same impressive sound however back then akg used the existing technology materials for the earpads which were very good at the time but over the years the material which started out soft turned to pretty hard and uncomfortable

On the ear phones can became rather uncomfortable over extended periods pressing against the cartilage of the ear which can quickly become very uncomfortable for anyone wearing glasses in which the stems of the glasses start hurting the ear

Since this set is new to me i cant speak to its long term durability as i can for the other 4 sets of akg which i have owned for many years but i see no reason to consider them less at this point based on the apparent build quality
