Pros

The ewi is amazing. The instrument itself is well built and very articulate. If you are the type to tinker with things, this unit is fairly amenable to modification.

One complaint (which is probably common to the non-usb ewi) is that the unit allows for very little airflow through it. It takes a bit of a roundabout way to get the other programs to detect the wind control, but it does work.

The 4000s is an incredible bargain at under $300. It is much simpler to setup and use than all of the other wind controllers. They are pricey, but sound like real instruments.

Cons

Trumpet players stay away unless you want to learn sax * to play trumpet. Not gonna happen. Compared to the yamaha equipment, the ewi usb is a piece of junk.

The sound fonts sounds like *, what little i got to work. And then it crashes when i try to set up the instrument. The latest update, which isn't even a proper installer but a manual patcher, is from 2012.

This is an absolute must as the low price point

I got wallanderwivi band for only 99 and that made a real upgrade in the sound and runs through garageband which i already had on my mac

If you are unwilling or don’t know how to pirate software acquiring a daw by purchasing it can be quite expensive

It took almost two months but i was aware i had to wait for it to be back in stock

I did some research before the ewi arrived

Also im having to store it in its original box since the styrofoam padding is the best thing that i can think of to protect it for now
