The aluminum border is slightly lower than the pad so your mouse will travel right over it so it does not limit your movement

Many hard mouse mats arent metal and are actually very flexible synthetics yet they still cost more than this one probably solely because of their brand name

I just checked and at the time of this writing the vespula costs more than twice what this airfox costs which is bonkers to me since the vespula feels so cheaply made
