For those that are impatient the local hardware store has some replacement hoses which are more heat tolerant and at little cost

You return to find 95 of the oil removed

You push the hose down in the engine again and apply a vacuum

Now you just bounce the hose off the bottom of the oil pan trying suck out the last 5 which doesnt take long i know that bouncing the hose sounds strange but in use it is very understandable

I too wondered and removed the drain plug on my mercedes 320ml after sucking out all of the oil
