You get a genuine geologists hammer and a sturdy pair of safety glasses yes it will be suitable for cracking open geodes or shales or whatever else needs breaking open

The only flaw and this is minor is the case to hold the rocks it comes with a white card which fits into the top not the bottom which means you have to view the collection upside down

Also one of my guys got a bunch of gems the other got only a 23 so seems like theres not an equal amount in each box

The screen provided is attached to cardboard and therefore not really useful for anything beyond the provided sand
