Wear a sleeve when in shorts/pajamas. It’s not all that bulky either way. It's easy to put on, stays where you put it even over yoga pants.
I love the 3 straps and it get no kinking behind the knee! The sizing is true to the measurements they provide. The straps have a lot of stretch to them. The middle strap is not an issue in my opinion.
