This head is lightweight, sturdy and handles my z6 with a 150-600 zoom with no problem. Used in conjunction with an l-bracket and a half-cup centre column this is superb.

When i first took it out of the box i found that the drag on the vertical movement up and down motion was too much no matter where the tension knob was adjusted

In order to use it as a replacement for a gimbal head i think the drag should be close to zero free wheeling when the tension is loosened all the way

Even though the tension knob will turn about 360 degrees total it’s effective tension works only a couple degrees from the completely tightened position or full drag
