Basically hes determined to exact revenge on his guardian who manipulated bourne when he was a teenager into gambling away his fortune to him the fact that he did this to the son of his deceased friend is particularly vile

Proslove developing between old friends is one of my favorite romance archetypes so this storyline automatically appealed to me
