I dont find you have to hold reset when switching the power off to save games like dragon warrior but you have to remain on the same game if you wish to keep a save you cannot switch games or you will lose your save but you can turn it off just fine in my experience but even switching a game it deleted my save on the previous game

You have to press the select button on the menu to access both halves of the games

At the bottom of the menu it says press “select” to swap cart
