Best practice is to run a break in cycle on them slow chargedischargecharge something this charger isnt able to do but it should work itself out after a few charge cycles anyway

For old low capacity batteries eg aaa nicd the minimum charge current is a bit high and they probably wont charge properly the charger will declare them full after just a few seconds

If you want to routinely use fast charge its a very minor hassle programming the charge current has to be manually chosen every time

Nimhs should be charged at about 12 the rated capacity in ma eg for an 1000mah cell charge at 500ma

Between 13 and 11 is ok slower is not harmful in itself but risks the charger missing the signal that the sell is fully charged the resulting overcharge is harmful

However it did let them get back to their full capacity
