Cups had to trim off the top flange with scissors to get them to go down into jar enough so as not to interfere with seal

Dont know that the silicone rings help anything but the 3 piece airlock is the way to go

If you even have back up into the airlock the s shape is impossible to clean

Worked great for me the first time i used it for hot peppers must be stored in refrigerator once fermenting is done

Mine was down for 3 days so i assumed fermentation was done but i emptied the cup and resealed it and it seemed to still have gas coming out
