It should be noted that temp reading accuracy is only as good as the cold junction temperature compensating system of the meter

Temp meters typically use an internal thermistor to accomplish this so temp error is the error of this internal thermistor temp reading plus any error of the thermocouple itself

Low cost meters do not read the internal thermistor very accurately leading to temp reading errors of 6 deg f or more
