The underside of the bib and my clothing stays dry when there are wet drips on the bib but they would not absorb any large spills and they rip fairly easily also

You have to see which side is shiny and put that against the clothes

One side is papery the other has a light plasticky film coating that deters wet spills for a few seconds long enough to react and wrap the mess up in the bib remove it before damaging the garment below most of the time

If the spill is more than a tablespoon or very warm or acidic that plastic shield doesn’t hold up so the barrier is really minimal
