And since the wicking string that is hanging in the dry reservoir is also somewhat exposed to open air again because there is no cap on the reservoir that might be enhancing the reverse evaporation process

The only downside is that you must be able to put the plant up against a wall since there is an unsightly large plastic green water reservoir otherwise
