It has a metal hook that * to a heat vent. The hook part in the clamp makes it stay put. It is not a suction mount but a hook type that tightens solidly.

It blends in perfectly with my dash. Works nice on my pixel 6 pro and 2013 nissan titan. On 2018 audi q3, it fits perfectly without any issue.
Cons
My cellphone holder isn't strong enough to hold onto the ac grill. It mounts well but then with very small adjustments/movements falls right off. Once installed, it is flimsy and doesnt want to stand up.
