Pros & Cons

Pros

There's a small slit in the side of the cap that allows it to be resized a bit. Fits fine on my mitsubishi 9850 and also over my pearl palomino. Comes with small stickers that you can write on and then apply to each of them.

Needed an old fashioned and reliable pencil cap. It looks quite funky and bright.

They protect my suit pocket if i’m stashing a pencil on the go. It protects both the inside of my canvas pencil case and the tip of my pencil. A very useful shell to protect the pencil's lead.

Just working in elegant quality metal finish.

I read more reviews about pencil caps than i want to think of because i wanted to make sure they were compatible with the pencils i use.

If it doesn’t fit your pencils just give it a little squeeze and they should fit snuggly then, other than that i’m satisfied.

Price

Given the price, i thought these were worth a try.

Competitiveness

I bought this for a staedtler stylus that has the dimensions, shape and feel of a number two pencil.

I invested in a good set of caran d’ache watercolor pencils and plan to travel with them.

The more expensive blackwing cap probably works better on a hex pencil, but maybe not enough better to warrant the higher price.

If you like old-school pencils, then you know that carrying them around can be a pain.

They are cheap and prevent sharp pencil tips from stabbing things unintentionally

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

There is a little cut in the design which may be there to facilitate expansion for a tight fitthough i am not sure

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

For this use there is a disadvantage to this cap due to a cut slit in the cap which is there by design

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It is abrading the finish causing small piece of the coating to peel

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I assume that will become uncomfortable and ugly going forward so i cant use these for that purpose

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I bought the beautifully indulgent blackwing point guard but its not made to be a secure fit and i promptly lost it

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Little bumps in and out of their case didnt do a ton of damage but the points did wear down and would need to sharpened if i wanted a super fine tip

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The point of a pencil sharpened with a handcranked boston sharpener did not reach the bottom end of the cap and was not broken or dulled by putting the cap on possibly a different result if the sharpener used leaves a longer point
