All you need is a drill/driver and a level. Knives stick anywhere on it and release with a bit of leverage. The magnet is very strong. The included hardware makes for a tight grip to the wall.

"this is not a single bar magnet, rather it appears to be a series of 8-10 smaller hot spots" tried turning the magnet upside down and found no difference. The one that just arrived is not magnetic along the whole bar. It is only magnetic in spots.

The instructions do include a small cautionary note that fingers and skin can get pinched but you have to experience it to appreciate the force of the two sections snapping together
