The liner is 7 inches deep, which is plenty deep enough to keep the pump submerged. It is in our bird bath but you could easily make your own fountain container out of anything and easily install this. Perfect for a mini pond.

With the cloud cover the fountain went from full pumping to a trickle every time the clouds got darker. The solar panel is in direct sunlight with no shade.
